An elementary program is available for students entering grades 2 + 3 in September.


Please refer to the specific classes designated with the Gr. 2+3 classification on the master schedule.

 

Elementary Art:
Create works of art using various mediums such as painting, watercolors, drawing, Paper Mache, etc.

 

Recorder:
Learn to play the recorder!! This ancient instrument is perfect for young aspiring musicians and is used as one of the first steps in learning to read music, as well as playing a band or orchestra instrument.

 

Elementary Ceramics:
Create works of art using clay. Mold and manipulate the clay into whatever you imagine. After your project is fired in the kiln you can finish it with paints.

 

Creative Writing Workshop:
This class will focus on creativity and expression through poetry and short fiction and will encourage students to explore, experiment, create, share, and perform their writing. They will be introduced to a variety of poetic forms, including sonnets, haiku, free verse, etc. The program will culminate in a published collection of student writings.

 

Intro to Acting:
Acting is a great way to achieve self-esteem, confidence, and poise. In this class, students will have the opportunity to play acting games, create “characters”, learn basic stage / theater terminology, how to walk, talk, and listen on stage. Improvisation, monologues, and skits will be employed.

 

Elementary Jewelry Making:
In this class, students will create small / basic jewelry items such as bracelets, necklaces, etc. Materials to be used include leather, beads, clay, and more.

 

Pantomime:
Explore this unique and age old form of communication with Little People’s Theater Director Linda Hulley. Students truly come out of their shell after experiencing this class.

 

Piano:
Using electronic keyboards with headphones, students will learn how to play piano at the introductory/basic level. This includes playing with hands separately and together, as well as fingering and note reading techniques.
